How Much Is A Tarot Reading (And How to Pick a Reader)
Price is obviously an important factor in picking a Tarot reader but there are other factors I always urge people to look at as well. How much a Tarot reading will cost will vary depending on things like:
- Location (generally, cheaper online than in person)
- Medium of the reading (video, phone or email etc…)
- Experience
Personally I believe both the Tarot reader and the person getting the reading need time with the reading which is why I like written spreads over video or phone calls. There’s no rush there.
I also think one of the most important things you need to do is find a reader who suits you. Make sure your morals and understanding of the Tarot match and belief does vary in what the Tarot can or should be able to do.
I’m going to go into the details of finding a Tarot reader in general but if you’d like me to do a (free) tarot spread for you just click here and send me the details. Your reading will be sent to you within a few hours tops.
You’ll generally find that any reader who looks at the long term of the Tarot guidance will try and find the time to do a free reading.
Tarot readings date back to the 15th Century, when witchcraft was a popular belief. Nowadays, the cards are used to determine the spiritual needs of a person and give an insight into the knowledge they require for three situations: one past, one present and one future. Whilst there are hundreds of readers out there, it can be difficult to find someone who has a balance of both quality and good price, so if you are asking yourself ‘How much is a tarot reading?’, then this is the article for you!
The Going Rate
Generally speaking, there isn’t really a going rate for the price of a tarot reading, as different readers charge in different ways. However, these are the kinds of prices you should be looking for:
* CHARGE PER CARD — some tarot readers will charge you per card they read. Prices can be as little as $1 for this, however, readers at this price are usually inexperienced or unqualified, so looking at a higher price would be more worthwhile
* PER HOUR — other readers will look at charging you a set amount per hour, and for something like this, you want to be looking at around $20 — $30, for both a cheap and good-quality reader
* PER SESSION — the final charge type is per session, which is a good option if you are someone looking to visit again. These can be quite expensive at first, charging $40 — $50 per session, but this will even out over the course of more readings
A good quality reader for a low price
Going to a ‘charge per session’ reader is probably the best value for money. This is because these readers are not charging a set rate per amount of time they see you for, which puts them up with the top range readers. This is because charging per hour or per card is seen as unethical in the spiritual community, so making customers pay per session means that your reader is definitely very passionate and serious about their work!
DIY Tarot Readings
If you are someone looking for the cheapest route to card reading, then buying yourself a pack of tarot cards, and learning the trade yourself is a fun and inexpensive way to read your future. Here are some tips and advice on self-reading:
* Choose a deck of cards where the images relate personally to you — it will make it easier for you to read the cards
* Have a specific focus or question already in your mind when you begin reading
* Make sure you shuffle the deck well before trying again
* Find a spread or order that works for you — this will help you to read the cards, and to the learn the technique quickly
* Practice — the best way to improve your card-reading skills is simply to practice
So in summary, finding a reader who takes their job seriously is the best way to get a value for money card reading. Looking in the price range of $40 — $50 is a good place to find quality readers, but remember, you can always have a go at reading the cards yourself!
