The Tarot can be used to give us complex looks under the hood of the universe — or it can be used for (relatively) simple yes or no questions. So what does the major arcana Judgement Tarot mean in this context?

Well first of all it helps if we take the time to understand the meaning of the Judgement Tarot. And (remember) Tarot cards meaning is mostly in the context of the entire spread. I don’t do one card Tarot readings because they’re about as accurate as complete guesswork.

The context is what’ll decide whether the answer is a yes or a no. Anything else — you might as well be flipping a coin. If you’re using a single Tarot card you might as well be basing your decisions on playing cards.

That said. If you’d like a proper yes/no Tarot reading just shoot me your question here on The Tarot Guru. I’ll do your reading for you as a complete spread.

It depends 100% on where the card lies in reference to the other cards in a layout as to how exactly the judgement card is interpreted. It isnt always about awakening or rebirth. Its not actually Just a scene of people rising from the dead as many people see from it… remember the origin of the original Rider-Waite deck. It was illustrated by a woman who was studying catholicism and many of the images were lifted from the oldest tarot deck in the world which is held by the catholic church in italy. The judgement card is a scene involving a trumpet being blown by an angel who is not dissimilar to the way Gabriel is depicted in many texts and old art.

In many mythological tales including Revelations in the bible, Gabriel (the messenger) was sounding the horn in announcement of the final judgement day …the people rising from the dead are fulfilling the story in the bible that we will all, even in death, stand before God in judgement…. This particular judgement happens to be the reckoning….the judgement of the choices made during our lives.

The judgement card is a final judgement….its the fruition of all we did or didnt do. It is either, in the past position, stating your foundation having been laid out by some choice youd made in your past (possibly a choice to follow a particular path, desire or calling) OR its in the present (the most meaningless position for this card) letting you know that you are here, and its because of a choice you are making….OR in the future position it indicates that a huge choice is about to have to be made and while it gives zero insight into that choice, it tells you that its going to be a huge epic one that will echo into your future.

The card is about taking responsibility for your choices and facing the outcome as it is, with knowledge of your role in that outcome.

Its about the judgement of your actions and how you choose to live effecting your whole being as you live out these decisions facing karmic univeral cause and effect.
