If you have seen the card with the warrior secured in a chariot, you may be forgiven for wondering what this intriguing card means. The chariot is pulled by two sphinxes or sometimes horses. There is often a black and white theme, sometimes one steed will be black and the other white. The warrior is usually crowned or helmeted. Some cards show him with wings.

Tarot cards. An ancient method of communing with the dead in order to gain knowledge of things from the spiritual realms, Adherents swear that they are truly communing with spirits and receiving guidance and knowledge.

Before we get too far into the meaning of the Chariot specfically it’s important to remember one thing. The meaning of ANY Tarot card depends on the other cards in the spread. A single card by itself can’t tell you much.

If you’d like me to do a tarot spread for you just click here and send me the details. Your reading will be sent to you within a few hours tops.

The chariot card directs you to look at issues of control, maintaining control or being out of control. whichever suits. Either a person or situation needs to be addressed and avoiding it or not dealing with it appropriately can see things getting worse. Assuming you didn’t draw a single card, other cards matter. it is a mistake to apply a zodiac sign to any of the major arcana as you weaken their actual direction.

Major Arcana (larger secrets) are an indication of the deeper meaning in actual situations and behaviours. That is to say they are character building, spiritual learning and in the toughest case scenario they become life lessons. The chariot represents maintaining something or taking a lead role in ensuring things are headed where you need them to go. We can’t always hold the reins of a situation as there are usually others involved. This could mean if your question pertains to problems in a relationship that someone else will do what they will do and you have no control over that. Depending on your deck the imagery may provide other clues, but if we go back to the purists Arthur Waite, Eliphas Levi, they were always very clear, that the cards are used to tweak your psychological understanding of life and behaviours (minor arcana) Character strength and weaknesses (major arcana)

Think carefully about your question and how the card directs you to an answer if you are looking for one, or a solution if that is your aim, direction if you are making a choice and so on.

“ It’s about getting what you want. It implies war, a struggle, and an eventual, hard-won victory over enemies, obstacles, nature, the uncertainties inside you.”

“The Chariot represents victory, conquest, and control. The seventh Major Arcana card does not guarantee success, but it does promise that your hard work and perseverance will pay off.”

“Determination fails; a journey ends or the destination is forgotten; progress halts; victory does not materialize or is an outright loss. Thus, the Chariot can be either positive or negative, and so it suits Cancer appropriately in that regard.”

How can you interpret the true meaning of the chariot card in the context of your question?

Rather than shelling out on counseling, self-help books, gurus or losing all your hair to worry and stress — hair products are uber-expensive — why not try a spiritual reading?

You don’t even need to pay for a professional reading. If you study up enough, you can become proficient at tarot cards yourself.

But not all cards are cut and dry. Take a look at these three completely different interpretations for the most enigmatic of all tarot cards; the chariot.
