What Does the Star Tarot Card Mean (Really)

The Star is one of the more interesting Major arcanas in the Tarot deck and is almost always an interesting one to see in a spread.

But before we get too much into it — as with most of the Tarot, the real meaning of the cards comes from their position and combination with other Tarot cards. Trying to take meaning from a single card is about as accurate as flipping a coin.

If you’d like me to do a free complete spread for you (not just a single card) just take a moment to send your question details here. It’ll take an hour or two but I’ll send it straight to you.

The star tarot card is a card that predicts hope and healing in your life. It looks to the future, not to predict major change, but to imply good things are to come. The star card upright indicates faith, insight, love, optimism, fulfillment, good omens and hope. However, the star card reversed implies bad luck, disappointment, imbalance, lack of opportunity, pessimism and unfulfilled hopes.

The star indicates that you are entering into a reprieve after a tumultuous period in your life. You’ll be moving into a loving phase in your existence that will include a lot of personal growth and the receiving of blessings. The phrase “out with the old and in with the new” is the most applicable phrase to explain what receiving the star card means in your reading.

Conversely, the star card reversed indicates that you have lost faith and hope in the positive impact of your life on the universe. It indicates that you’re overwhelmed, and that you’re in a period where your faith is being tested. Receiving the reversed star card shows that you’re disengaged and uninspired, and ultimately that you need to reconnect and perform a serious level of self care.

To me, the Star indicates a relationship with spiritual elements. This isn’t an ordinary dating relationship; instead, it either is or will often become a deeper and more meaningful connection. You’re not together just because of physical attraction. There is something more.

Without doing an actual reading, it can be hard to say exactly what the Star might mean regarding someone’s feelings. This can often be determined by position and other questions. However, some basic concepts that come up often with Star in relationships:

  • The person feels understood by you. They can talk to you about a variety of subjects and can trust you’ll listen. Even if you don’t share an interest or disagree on a matter, they believe in your ability to give them a fair hearing and to make an effort to see it from their perspective. This usually also means they don’t feel the need to pretend around you. They can be themselves.
  • The person feels inspired by you. You give them hope and because you’re there, they feel they can get through anything. You may be the first person who demonstrates real belief in them and their abilities and gets them on the path to making more of their life. You make them want to do better. I find this card often points to feeling inspired to do for others, especially, like volunteer work or giving to charity. In a relationship, this might mean you give them the inspiration they need to find what they support and stand by it financially or with gifts of their time.
  • The person has hope of a life with you. More than their own matters, this card can also mean they believe there’s hope for a future with you. They can allow themselves to dream and plan because they think they have something to work towards with you now.
  • The person looks up to you, especially in deeper matters. There is actually a hint of the spiritually advanced twin flame in this card. That’s my view, anyway. I see in this card the “twin” who takes the lead spiritually, who offers guidance and nurturing of the other. They may not come to you with everyday concerns — though they might, certainly — but on the deeper questions of life they’ll turn to you.

As always, take it with a grain of salt because this is just general information rather than a reading on your exact relationship.

In matters of love, the star card appears when you’re in emotional trouble. It indicates the need to truly listen to your heart and what it is saying to you. If you are single, drawing the star card means it is the right time to begin a new romance. With regard to money, the star card means that you are finally learning your way around handling money. With regard to your future, the star card appears to tell you not to lose hope. It is telling you to fall in love, share the blessings you’ve received, to forgive yourself and to forgive those that have wronged you.
